Between Mnemosyne and Terpsychore – Heritage Sites and Contemporary Dance for the promotion of critical thinking among pupils (2021-2023)
The title evokes two figures from Greek mythology – the goddess of memory Mnemosyne, who represents cultural heritage, and the muse of dance Terpsychore. The alliance between Mnemosyne and Terpsychore aims to strengthen the role of Palaces as spaces for the development of critical thinking and the contribution of contemporary dance and digital tools as powerful means for cultural mediation in heritage sites. It also intends to encourage the participation of local communities, with a focus on young people.
This project focuses on promoting critical thinking skills and fostering the creativity of secondary school pupils, aged 14 to 18, during their visits to National Palaces. This endeavor will be made possible through the mediation of Contemporary dance and Augmented Reality, who will connect the pupils to the heritage sites.
MeetShareDance is going to create a site specific final performance in both palaces and through dance tackle themes such as power, memory, identity, body and nature.
